Stipends and Fees

Stipends and fees are set annually by the department, college and university.

Research Assistant - for 2022-2023, $31,779 for a 12 month, 50% time appt. Tuition remission is included and health insurance is available for a modest monthly premium.

Teaching Assistant - The TA rate is $21,115 for a two-semester, 50% appt, which is $10577 for one semester. Tuition remission is included, and health insurance is available for a modest monthly premium.

Wisconsin Distinguished Fellowships - Tuition remission, segregated fees and health insurance are included.

There is no formal application process for assistantships. Students who submit their complete application by January 1 have the best chance for consideration. All applicants will be considered for any available assistantships or fellowships.

We follow the Council of Graduate Schools Resolution which allows students until April 15 to make a decision on any assistantship or fellowship offer.

We are not able to provide assistantships for all admitted students.
