December 2021 Highlight- Year in Review
December 31, 2021Looking back on 2021, it’s easy to see some of the incredible accomplishments of the AOS department. This year saw several nominations of professors and alumni for prestigious awards, including the great honor of our very own Michael Morgan being nominated by President Joe Biden as the intended nominee for Assistant Secretary for Environmental Observation and Prediction. 2021 also saw the return to in person instruction within the AOSS building, bringing life back into classrooms and offices that sat empty for months on end. It was also a year where we lost both Professor Emeritus John Kutzbach and Professor Robert A. Ragotzkie, the very first recipient of the AOS Department’s PhD program. They were an integral part of the history of the department, and their loss is ours as well.
As we ring in the new year, may we hope that 2022 is an even better year, whether that be in professional, academic, or personal milestones.
Happy New Year, AOS. Let’s celebrate tonight.
