Undergraduate Scholarships and Fellowships
Lyle H. Horn Scholarship
This scholarship is for excellence in overall performance as an undergraduate. This includes some previous experience at UW-Madison. A minimum of one completed semester is required. The award will be for one or more of the following:
(1) Excellence in course performance. (2) A significant amount of professional experience (intern, paid or volunteer) and/or hobbies which have contributed to an increased understanding of the field of atmospheric science. (3) Originality and independence displayed in a research project, outstanding honor paper or undergraduate thesis, innovative establishment of an educational tool for atmospheric sciences. (4) Contribution to department and fellow students. This could include outstanding contributions to weather watch program, leadership in the AMS, etc.
All declared undergrad majors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are considered for this scholarship.
Verner E. Suomi Scholarship
Any graduating high school senior who plans to attend a University of Wisconsin System undergraduate program in the physical sciences; especially meteorology, earth science, oceanography, physics, astronomy, science or math education, environmental science and engineering is eligible to apply for this scholarship.
