Meteorological seasons are slightly skewed from astronomical
seasons, with winter records running from December through February,
spring records referring to March through May, summer June through
August, and autumn September through November.
The following files contain the top ten record setting seasons for
Madison since records began in 1869.
Note that prior to 1896, temperatures were
only recorded 3 times daily, at 7am, 2pm, and 7pm, so absolute maximum
and absolute minimum values are absent from climatological calculations
for nearly 30 years of data.
