Edwin Eloranta Awarded ILRC Lifetime Achievement AwardJuly 15, 2019
Senior scientist Edwin Eloranta was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 29th International Laser Radar Conference in Hefei, China this past June. This award is given out to international leaders and contributors in LIDAR research, a detection system that operates on the same principles as RADAR but utilizes light instead of sound. Individuals are selected based on their contributions to the field over a sustained period.
Eloranta has received other awards at previous International Laser Radar Conferences. In 2006, he was awarded the ILRC award in ‘best oral paper for researchers’ for his paper “Arctic Observations with the Univ. of Wisconsin HSRL".
