The following text files are formatted as follows. The first line is a text header that indicates what variable is in each column. The four columns are year, month, SST time series, and Wind time series. For additional information, see the AMM and PMM tabs above.

In general, unless there is a compelling reason to use one of the other indices, I think it makes the most sense to use the AMM or PMM SST indices to describe AMM or PMM variations (these are contained in the third columns of AMM.txt and PMM.txt, respectively). The wind index (fourth column) blends both the coupled wind component of the AMM or PMM and external forcing that generates the AMM or PMM in the first place. The AMM.RAW and PMM.RAW time series make no attempt to remove ENSO, which is probably not a big issue in the Atlantic, but in the Pacific will be an issue.
